A New Chapter Begins!

This past March, we introduced something new- and now we are officially rolling it out:  The 8th Grade Experience is here at Sherry Janis Photography!

Think of it as a mini version of our beloved Senior Experience- same beautiful imagery, same creative energy, same personal attention- just in a compact, simplified session designed especially for students wrapping up middle school and stepping into high school.

We know how much we love working with our seniors and the memories we create together, so we thought:  why not start this journey a little earlier?  These shoots are short and sweet, designed to be fun and reflect the age they are at that moment- memorable and impactful.

And here's the best part- when you book an 8th Grade Experience, you'll receive $100 off your future Senior Experience session fee with us.  Just our way of saying thank you and how exciting it will be to look back and see how far your student has grown during the journey of high school.

Our very first 8th grader, Jill has stunned us with our very first 8th Grade Experience!  It has left us speechless and in awe of how this session turned out. It was everything we wanted to convey in an 8th grade mini shoot-  We kept her session simple and elegant but WOW- it was full of personality and power!  She was also the first to try out our new bubble chair in the studio, and lets just say....we're obsessed!  The results are exactly what we were aiming for- modern, artistic and truly one of a kind.

We're always evolving- adding new props, updating our indoor and outdoor settings ad refining our sessions to make them unique.

So parents of rising 9th graders: if you're already dreaming about senior portraits someday, lets start the journey now.  This isn't just a photo shoot, its a way to document a milestone and celebrate who they are RIGHT NOW before high school begins.

Special thanks to Jill and the Martin family.  I have captured the Martin's two older son's senior portraits and now I have the pleasure of working with Jill!  

Hair and Makeup by- JILL!  Jill chose a variety of outfits to help me showcase the 8th grade experience.  We began in studio while hair and makeup were still fresh and then we set out to a location of yellow summer flowers that I spotted.  Then we went to the Junior High to officially say goodbye to that era - then we finished up at the Industrial high school stadium in Vanderbilt where Jill will be spending her high school years cheering for the Industrial Cobras!  Jill brought a variety of skirts, dresses, sandals, boots, and an outfit to kick off her cheer years at the stadium.  I think she did a fabulous job choosing her outfits and doing her own hair and makeup!

We must mention- this session was shot yesterday in MID-JULY.  Folks, don't be afraid of shooting summer sessions and we aren't afraid of the sun either- I love the fact that we captured several different looks.  Several different kinds of lighting.  Studio lighting, full sun in the yellow flowers where we were able to tone that sun down a bit with our OCF,  we shot into direct sun, we had hazy sun and we had blue hour at the stadium.  

We are located in beautiful Inez, TX.  Just a short drive from Victoria, Edna, Hallettsville and surrounding areas!
